"International Conference on Charity"

The Director of the Rome office of the Knights of Columbus Foundation and representative of the Order in Italy, Arch. Enrico Pietro Demajo, participated as Auditor at the International Conference on Charity which was held in the Aula Nervi in Vatican.
Organized by the Pontifical Council "Cor Unum", the conference, inspired by the words of St. Paul, "...above all is charity", was held on January 23-24.

The main aims of the Pontifical Council are:
Promote catechism of Charity and stimulate the faithful to testify Evangelic charity, assisting and coordinating the initiatives of Catholic institutions which aid populations in need;
closely follow and promote projects and works of solidarity and fraternal aid directed to human progress;
being of service to churches as an intermediary between Catholic aid organizations and facilitate an impartial distribution of aid;
ecumenical relations, dealing with individual brothers in view of a common aid in order that the population may benefit from reciprocal charity initiatives,
facilitate relations between Catholic and international public organizations which work in the same field of assistance and progress.
The John Paul II Foundations, Sahel and "Populorum Progressio" have been entrusted to this ministry.
