Coined on the occasion of the visit of Pope John Paul II in the United States of America on October 6, 1995.

The front of the medal captures the Holy Father seated on a Papal chair, designed by Kevin Roche and commissioned by the Knights of Columbus. The chair can be found on display in Order’s Museum in New Haven.
The obverse represents the altar and platform especially designed and built by Kevin Roche where the Holy Father celebrated Holy Mass in front of 75,000 Knights, families and faithful.
