Pope Benedict XVI received Supreme Knight Carl Anderson and Supreme Chaplain Bishop William Lori in a private audience at the Vatican on Thursday, December 6. On behalf of the 1.7 million members of the Knights of Columbus, Supreme Knight Anderson presented His Holiness with a gift of $1.6 million, representing this year’s earnings from the Order’s Vicarius Christi Fund, which was established in 1981. Over the past 25 years, the fund has provided more than $43 million to the Vicar of Christ for his personal charities and causes.
