 | “Light from the Age of Augustine” March 27, 2004 through December 31, 2005
On loan from the Harvard University Art Museums and private collectors, the show contains 104 Red Slip Ware ceramics from the 4th and 5th centuries. Handcrafted in the Roman Empire’s North African provinces in Northern Tunisia, they were exported throughout the Mediterranean. The ceramics’ images reflect the Empire’s transition from paganism to Christianity in the Carthage region where St. Augustine lived and taught. |
