 | Images of Faith & Art from Mexico 2005 The firm faith of the Mexican people brought the Order of the Knights of Columbus to Mexico in 1905 with the establishment of Guadalupe Council 1050. Thus it was fitting that the Order celebrated a century of Columbianism in Mexico with the exhibit titled "Images of Faith & Art from Mexico". It was fitting too that it was shown at the Knights of Columbus Museum, now known as "The Museum of History, Art and Faith". Many of the art works which were on display and are represented in this catalog, were shown for the first time outside of Mexico. They are representative of what is known as religious folk art, capturing certain elements of the European masters, treating subjects familiar to Catholics throughout the world yet rendered in a way that showcases their own unique Mexican perspectives on the faith. |
